Now this really is something rather special. In a world of loudness wars and over-crammed mixes, what our music sometimes needs is space to be; the individuation and clarity that come from the absence of sound; in other words, contrast. Silencio brings you that contrast in pristine 24-bit quality, whenever and wherever you need it.
Comprising eight meticulously-recorded silent environments (six analogue and two digital) plus hard bypass, Silencio gives you instant access to different tonalities of silence across a full 88-key range. A comprehensive control set allows further tailoring of the core silences. Its uses are limited only by your imagination, but there are some standout applications:
Perfect for adding space to a mix. Today’s mixes easily become crowded, with frequency bands jostling for attention and fatiguing the listener. Use Silencio to bring air and space to your mix. Just one or two tracks of Silencio can make all the difference.
Ideal for Jazz musicians. We often hear jazz aficionados saying of great musicians that we should ‘listen to the notes the guy isn’t playing’. This is central to classic jazz soloing. With Silencio, you can play these notes directly.
Great for experimental musicians. Silencio can be at the heart of experimental music. It’s ideal for playing John Cage’s 4’33 (in fact it’s possible to play 4’33 in under three minutes using Silencio).
Other uses include library music (for actual libraries), meditation soundtracks (ideal with noise-cancelling headphones), and more technical applications – try adding Silencio to your buss compressor’s sidechain, for example, for a really ‘pumping’ sound.

This just happened along at exactly the right time, on a day that I could really appreciate it. The front panel is in line with other Rhythmic Robot releases. I shall be sure to have it live in screen caps just to spread the word. A couple of user tips, having explored the instrument a bit: try running it through a bitrate reducer for some lively early chip tune style silence. Or there’s my favourite: run it through a really deep long reverb for some lush rich reverb tails that seem to go on forever. And ever. The best part though was being able to run through 4’33” in record time. I once managed to perform it in just under 4 minutes, and man was I exhausted! Kudos to The Professor and Mongo for making my day!

Silencio has singlehandedly revolutionised my entire workflow! I’ve even started going back to older projects and remixing using generous amount of Silencio. Amazeballs! You just have to be careful to feed it -18dB RMS or it gets hairy pretty quick. I know it’s a freebie but one FR please: Could you make the ‘Silence Types’ clickable instead of having to click the toggle?

This is an amazing product. I’m going to risk hyperbole and say that it’s absolutely magical. There must have been an error when I downloaded it, because there aren’t any WAV files in the Samples folder, but the product still works exactly as described on the box! Unbelievable!

Excellent product and surprisingly compact! FYI: You can hear the loop point “click” on E#3. Perhaps a future update will fix this?
